How We Handle Corrections

Identifying Errors: Corrections can come from multiple sources — our own fact-checking, reader submissions, or communication from the establishments we cover. We evaluate each reported error against our original reporting to confirm whether a correction is warranted.

Correction Methodology: For factual corrections, we update the published article to reflect accurate information. Corrections appear clearly marked at the bottom of the article with a timestamp and a brief explanation of what was corrected. For substantial errors that affect the substance of our evaluation, we revise the article text itself and note the change.

Transparency: We maintain a record of significant corrections in our editorial process. This transparency is part of our commitment to maintaining trust with both our readers and the establishments we cover. Our journalism is only as strong as our credibility, and credibility depends on acknowledging when we get something wrong.

Distinguishing Corrections from Clarifications: Corrections address factual errors in our reporting. Clarifications are explanations of what we meant, or additional context that helps readers understand our original statement more fully. Not every reader disagreement warrants a correction — we stand by our professional judgments and evaluations. If an establishment disputes our characterization of their operations or quality standards, that’s feedback we take seriously, but it may result in additional reporting rather than a correction of fact.

If you notice an error in our reporting, we want to hear about it. Please include the article title, the specific passage with the error, and the correct information along with any supporting details. Corrections that are verified and substantiated will be implemented and acknowledged.
